Basic Foot Care Courses
For both
Australian and International Students
Members of the Foot and Hand Carers Association obtain their qualifications from various Educational Institutions, Community Health Centres and Age care work places.
The Association provides a portal for all those Members that have certificates in
- Cert III and IV in Foot and Hand Care.
- Basic Foot Care for Nurses (Div. I and Div. II).
- Manicuring and Pedicuring.
- Chiropody (UK based).
- Reflexology and Reflexognosy.
- Allied Health Assistants (Podiatry), and
- Basic Foot Care for Age Care workers
The Association has always believed in ongoing education in Foot care at all levels. It provides education to all those that are just starting out in their new career to all those with the highest level of Foot care education.
The Foot and Hand Carers Association together with one of its partners, Anglicare (A Registered Training Organisation in Canberra and Goulburn) have joined together to help deliver eight Nationally Accredited Training Units all of which when put together form a very solid back ground for those seeking a Career in Foot Care.
These units are delivered online via our FHCA E-learning education platform, and are not only written for our Australian students, but for our International students as well.
If you wish, we can also arrange for these resources to be delivered to you as a wire bound hard copy, while at the same time you can be receiving support online, the choice is yours.

These courses can be conducted anywhere in the world
On enrolment, each student will be assigned a trainer that will help guide them through their course of study. It doesn’t matter where you live in the world, students and trainers will communicate through emails, phone (Skype), and SMS thereby removing isolation for the student.
There are no time frames for the student to complete these units; all units can be completed at the students own pace.
Each unit will have small assignments throughout course, once completed, these assignments can be uploaded to your trainer and in return your trainer will mark you as either “competent “or “not yet competent.”
Either way, your trainer will eventually guide you to become Competent in your unit.
Those that wish to learn about Basic Foot Care and require Nationally accredited training need to obtain HLTAH404A “Assist with Basic Foot Hygiene” (this unit allows you to file and trim nails.)
To reach this goal you must have the following prerequisite units.
| HLTAP301A |
Recognise healthy body systems in a health care setting. |
HLTCSD305B |
Assist with client movement. |
HLTAH301A |
Assist with an allied health program |
HLTIN302A |
Process reusable instruments and Equipment in the Health care. |
HLTIN301C |
Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health care |
If you just want to be able to file nails and not trim them you don’t require the units above, you only need to complete the Nationally Accredited unit:
CHCICS306A Provide Basic Foot, skin, and nail care.
As mentioned above, those that become Members of the Foot and Hand Carers Association, bring with them skills that have been learnt previously and therefore can apply for Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) or of Prior Leaning (RPL). For example, those that have come from an Aged Care or Allied Health background may not have to complete all of the above prerequisites, because they already have the competency and certificates of attainment to prove this.
Recognition of Current Competency (RCC)
It is up to each individual to go back over their academic records to see if they can receive recognition of current competency. If in doubt, simply ask your supervisor, work place assessor, or even contact the Organisation that issued your Certificate of attainment/s.
A “verified” copy of any relevant Certificates of Attainment must be lodged with Anglicare.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL involves the assessment of previously unrecognized skills and knowledge an individual has achieved outside the formal education and training system.
RPL is an assessment process that assesses the individual’s non-formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes or competency standards.
If you think you may be eligible for RPL, please contact Anglicare for an RPL application.
The outcome of this application is that RCC/RPL will be either granted or not granted, and will be reported against the relevant AVETMISS codes.
As previously mentioned, in order to achieve HLTAH404A “Assist with Basic Foot Hygiene”, you must complete the following units in the correct order. If you have recognition of prior learning in any of these units simply provide us with the certificate of attainment and move onto the next unit.
STUDENT INFORMATION

These courses will be delivered online directly to your computer within the comforts of your own home, saving you time, and best of all, saving you money with no extra travelling costs or accommodation etc.
According to your foot care knowledge you are welcome to select one or more or these modules to complete your study. These modules are explained in both plain and medical terms so that all Foot Carers on all levels of competency will understand the basic concepts and procedures being shown.
Once again these courses are private and not Nationally accredited units like the units above.
In these small easy to understand modules, you will learn –
How to reduce corns and callus SAFELY
This course shows you how to reduce corns and callus safely without using scalpels or any other sharp blades of any other description. It’s important for you to realize that in my practice today I rarely use scalpels and I see between 25-30 clients per day. This is not a new procedure! It’s currently being practiced by many foot Carers in Europe today.

How to trim and reduce down nails SAFELY using a dust extraction nail drill
In this course you will learn how to use a hand file to reduce down thick nails, and then the state of the art dust extraction nail drill. When filing down nails, at the end of the day, there is very little difference between the manual process and automatic process, so if you are serious about foot care, and you’re starting to see more clients every day, the dust extraction nail drill will help prevent your hands from getting too tried, or dare I say RSI.
Manicurists, Pedicurists and Nails Technicians currently use nail drills with dust extraction units with great results and in this module I will also show you how.

Not only will I show you how to use these instruments, I will also introduce you to a Medical Company which will absolutely not be beaten on price with savings of up to 30% and above on each purchase Guaranteed!
